We’re supposed to leave for Florida on Saturday to visit my sister and her family as well as a few days at Disney World, and of course something goes sideways a day before we leave. The temperature outside has gone up today and the house was getting warmer all day. I flipped the heat pump over to cool and nada. It got up to 78 and we gave up. I shut down the heat pump so it doesn’t burn up and will have to call someone in the morning in the hopes they have an opening tomorrow to come look at it.
Good thing we just counted all the coins in the vacation jar. I feel like Ellie and Carl in Up. We broke open the jar where we were saving all our money to repair the thing that’s broken instead of doing the trip we’d been planning.

I’m not saying we’re not going to Florida, but it feels like we just got things in a good place and now we have to repair the air conditioner. It seems like I can’t ever get ahead.
In fairness, the money from the vacation jar isn’t enough to go on a vacation. Also, because of another favorite movie, Parenthood, I know that in life, you never cross the finish line, you never spike the ball.

Still. I wish we could have gone on vacation without the added stress of having to figure out how to get the a/c fixed. Nothing is ever easy.
