A Busy Week

Hey folks, sorry I’m a few days late with the weekly blog post. It has been a busy week. This won’t be long because we still have tons to do and there’s not much time right now for writing and webpage development.

We’re in the house! We got word last Wednesday that the closing on the shore house had been recorded that afternoon and the money was transferred to the buyers. The buyers were going to the bank on Thursday morning to get the money and deliver it to the title company on the shore. We asked the title company to transfer the money directly to the title company here for the King George house, and they obliged. The money was transferred Friday and we were able to complete the walk through and the closing here.

All three PODS were delivered to the new house Friday morning while we were doing the walkthough. Sarah and Maria were able to get the first one unloaded while Adrianne and I completed the closing. Later that night, we were able to get the second one unloaded after Ed, Austin, Brooks, and Jade showed up to lend a hand. We got the third and final one unloaded the next morning and everything is now in the house waiting to be unboxed, unpacked, and put in its place.

Saturday evening, the washer and dryer were delivered and installed while we spent the day washing, wiping, and moving things to their respective places.

Sunday, some of the neighbors showed up on the doorstep with a welcome to the neighborhood basket. I thought people only did that in the movies! It was so kind of them. We really like the area that we’re in. It’s quiet, the neighbors are nice, and the views are beautiful. We have plenty of room, if you’re ever in the area and want to stop by, just give us a holler. We’re more than happy to have guests stay with us.

Monday, the internet guys showed up and connected us to the World Wide Web. I can’t tell you how good it feels to have a solid, stable internet connection again. Later that day, Adrianne and I unloaded everything out of the camper and into the vehicles. We transported everything back to the house and unloaded it all into the garage. We went back to the camper and cleaned everything up, winterized it, and tried to get it off the campsite and onto the truck when we found out that the auto leveling system was burnt out. We think something happened to it when we had the electrical problems with the camper a few weeks ago. We stayed for a few hours trying to get it working and finally had to call it quits before heading home for the night; both of us had work the next day.

And that’s it, you’re all caught up. The kids all left to head back to their respective locations. We’re expecting Sarah back later this week for Thanksgiving. Austin said he and Jade were going to try to come back closer to Christmas. Adrianne and I have a lot to do in the house for the time being getting everything unpacked, set up, and put in the rooms where they belong. We’re also going to have to manually get the camper off the leveling pads and onto the truck so we can transport it to a repair center. It’s a lot, but it’s good. We’ll get it sorted out and figure out what we’re going to do with the camper once it’s been repaired.

One personal note. I didn’t realize how much the move was weighing on me until we got to the new house. It was really bothering me, but now that we have brought everything to a logical conclusion, everything is coming up roses. All the stressing out I did didn’t change one iota. Maybe next time, I won’t stress out.
