Well folks, here it is. The final post from our cruise to Alaska and subsequent time in and around the Seattle area. And it only took me 11 weeks since we’ve been back. In fairness, I try to post once a week so I’m not bombarding all of you with daily doses of Schmidt. Since our trip was 12 days, and since every day of our trip roughly equaled one post, I’m going to say that I’m ahead of schedule. So there.
This wasn’t on the plans originally, but on our day trip out to the Olympic Peninsula, Adrianne found a whale watching trip she wanted to go on. So I told her to go ahead and schedule it, and it was whale worth it!
We only took a few photos and one video. There was a professional photographer on the boat we sailed into Puget Sound on, and he took ons of great photos for us, so we paid him for his photos and he emailed us a link to download them. There are only 22GB of photos to download, so we’re going to wait until we have a more reliable internet connection before we download them. I’ve included the photos and videos that we took here.

We did see almost every species of whale that comes into Puget Sound. There were Orcas, Grey Whales, and Humpback Whales.
The Orcas were the ones that we wanted to see the most and we got quite the show. The pod we saw was hunting something in the sound and as we followed along, they caught it. One of the Orcas did a spy-hopping move where they popped up out of the water and “moon-walked” backwards through the water while the others in the pod ate their fill. After, the pod turned straight at the boat and came right underneath where Adrianne was standing and as she put it, they “blew her a kiss”. My perception is that they “sneezed” on her, but we’ll agree to disagree on that.
We booked our whale watching trip through Puget Sound Express (link below) and it wasn’t very expensive, but it was thoroughly enjoyable. We highly recommend these folks if you’re in the area and want to see any of the wildlife in the sound.

I hope you’ve enjoyed all of our photos and stories from the trip we took. We certainly enjoyed experiencing everything and we’re happy to be able to share all of these things with you. One thing is for certain, I’m in no danger of becoming a social media influencer any time soon, but I keep reminding myself that’s not why I do this. I do this because I can share my thoughts, ideas, pictures, and videos with all of you without worrying about the social medial oligarchs blocking my content or telling me I have been placed in social media jail for posting something they didn’t agree with.
Next week, I’ll get you all an update on where we stand with the new jobs and the new house. We’re only 30 days and a wake up from closing on that, the new house is beautiful and we’re getting excited!
