Hey all,
So we’re back from our trip to Seattle and Alaska and all I can say is…wow.
What an adventure. We had wanted to see Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula for almost 20 years now and we finally got to do it. Plus, we had the added bonus of going to Alaska and seeing the natural beauty there.
The pictures and videos I’m going to be posting over the next few days don’t do the area any justice at all. You have to go and experience these places for yourself. We worked hard to be in the moment and not see these awesome sights through our cameras and phone screens. There are some experiences I’ll write about but we have no pictures to share because we were in the moment.
This first set of photos is from our travel day to Seattle…

Day one was a long one. We got up around 2:00 AM for our flight at 4:30 AM. The hotel we stayed at has a long-term parking plan that’s cheaper than parking at the airport and a free shuttle to and from the hotel and airport. we flew to Oakland, CA and had a five-hour layover. We went to get something to eat during that time and the airport bar was charging $20 for a large beer! No thanks. I passed and had a Diet Coke with my burger.
We got on our next flight to Seattle and landed at SeaTac airport around 10:00 PM. I’d pre-booked us an Uber to pick us up when our flight landed to take us to our hotel but the baggage was delayed almost an hour. I don’t blame the Uber driver for bailing on us after thirty minutes, but I won’t pre-book one ever again unless I only have a carry-on and can skip the baggage carousel and go straight to the pick up point.
We got our baggage around 11:00 PM and an Uber picked us up. We got to the hotel safely, we checked in, and we crashed hard. We got up early the next day because we were excited to explore The Emerald City and because we were still on east coast time.
