When I was visiting Israel for the first time, some friends and I decided to sign up for a bunch of tours to see The Holy Land. One of the tours had a stop in the middle of the day for a lunch. We stopped at the café for a bite to eat and were treated to some of the local cuisine. This was the first time I’d ever tried hummus.
Never having it before, I said, “This is good, what is it?”
My friend replied, “It’s hummus.”
“It’s good,” I said again, “what’s in it?”
“Tahini, olive oil, seasoning, and garbanzo beans” my friend answered.
Seeing an opportunity to tear the mickey out of my friend, I remarked, “I really like it, at least it’s not made with chickpeas, I’m allergic to those.”
“SPIT IT OUT!” my friend screamed.
Happiness is a finite resource in the Navy. In order to gain more for oneself you must take it away from others.
