People are stupid

From one of my favorite books…

We’re not supposed to talk about wizard rules to those who aren’t in the know (just like fight club) but it seems like the current administration is knows about the rules and is trying to use them against us.

If we’re all united against the fight against COVID-19 omega rewards+ variant (or whatever the next variant will be called) we won’t be united against the real enemy. Those in power intent on dividing and destroying our once great country. Make no mistake, there will always be another variant.

Funnily enough, this is the same mindset that was used in George Orwell’s 1984 to keep the country in a perpetual state of war. There was always another enemy that Oceana was fighting against. The people were always united against a common enemy and sacrificing meat, rubber, steel, etc. so the soldiers could have what they needed to win the war. If the people of Oceana were united against that enemy, they weren’t united against the real enemy, Big Brother. Hey guys, 1984 was a warning not a blueprint for how things were supposed to be.

I’m starting to hear politicians say things like, “Unvaccinated people shouldn’t be allowed to board a plane, go to the hospital, go shopping at the store, etc.” This is more terrifying than anything thus far. Soon, there will be no distinguishing between the virus and those who are unvaccinated. It will be like a zombie movie where the zombies that are trying to eat your brains are just a macro version of the virus that infects them.

When will enough be enough? It was supposed to be two weeks to flatten the curve but we’re approaching the two year milestone. Viruses, germs, bacteria…they’re all a part of the beautifully diverse and nuanced world in which we are a part. Sometimes the germs win sometimes the humans win. We have the unique position of being the first (that we know of) sentient beings on this planet that can cognitively understand and protect ourselves from the microscopic invaders that permeate our world. Maybe is shouldn’t be about winning a war as much as it should be about existing together. The longer this continues the more I feel as though it’s all a plot to enslave us and the more I want to rebel.
