Masters of the Universe: Revelation

***WARNING – POSSIBLE SPOILERS AHEAD***

I know this isn’t the popular position, but I don’t care. I just watched Masters of the Universe: Revelation…and…it…was…AWESOME!!!

The show picks up right where the old series left off. The animation has been updated, but everyone looks the same. The voices are similar to the ones that were used in the original cartoon that I know and love.

Here’s the rub. Not everyone likes this show. There has been a lot of controversy around it. Moving the center of the storyline from Adam (aka He-man) to Teela and making He-man’s Grandfather a darker skin tone has pissed a lot of people off. I don’t care, it was really good. Besides, the show is called Masters of the Universe, that would imply that there can be more than one main character.

Just because a new thing is made doesn’t take anything away from the original series. It just makes more of the thing. For example, when the all female Ghostbusters movie came out, everyone hated that. I didn’t care. It didn’t change anything about the original movies; I can go back any time I like and watch the original movies. Heck, they’re even making another movie called Ghostbusters: Afterlife that I can’t wait to see.

I’m excited that people my age (-ish) are making more of the things that I loved when I was a kid. Kevin Smith, you’re the man. Thank you for making an awesome thing that I love. I hope you keep making more things that I love and I can’t wait for part two to come out later this year.
