A much-needed break

A much-needed break

We took a much-deserved and needed break this weekend.

I’d been working on the living room floor for over two weeks and I needed to get away now that it was (mostly) done.

The tiles are done, the grout is done, the baseboard is painted and back on the walls, the quarter-round is installed and covering up the gap between the walls and the tiles. The grout is sealed, all that is left to do is to caulk the baseboards and quarter-round, then install the trim and mosaic tiles around the fireplace. Now that it’s mostly done, curtains are hung, and furniture is back in the room, we decided to take a long weekend and go camping, just Adrianne and me.

We came to Castaways in Berlin, MD. It’s right outside of West Ocean City about 45 minutes from the house. It’s a resort area for RVs and the first time we’ve had the camper out just the two of us. Everything on the camper is set up and working properly, we just haven’t had a trip yet where it was just the two of us and no kids or doggo, so we decided to enjoy ourselves.

The campsite is a resort area, there is a camp store, basketball courts, dog parks, a dog wash, an arcade, an ice cream store, a beach, a pool for adults, a pool for kiddos, a beach, and a tiki bar. It’s a bit more expensive than the KOA on Chincoteague, but we’re staying in the middle of the busy season when everyone wants to be out enjoying the nice weather.

This is the first time I’ve been able to sit down and do any writing since I started the floor job in the living room. So that should indicate how much downtime I’ve been allowed this weekend. I’ve been cultivating ideas and writing the last two weeks, but it hasn’t been much and I haven’t had the time to publish anything recently. I put all my energy into the floor and the living room. I’m looking forward to getting home and being able to enjoy our new space, but we’re leaving again on Thursday to head to Williamsburg for Independence Day weekend. I suppose I’ll have to finish the fine details of the room when we’re back from that trip.

Of course, I haven’t just been doing work in the living room and camping. I’ve had a lot of little things going on while I was in between relaxing at the camper and busting my butt in the living room. I put together some awards for the 2021 Seniors of Arcadia High School marching band and color guard. I’ve been working with the Snapmaker at the house and learning new software. I’ve been getting ready for retirement which is now only two weeks away. There has been a lot and I’m thankful for every moment of it.

Life is truly a blessing and I’m thankful to be a part of it. Now that the living room is done and I only have two weeks left in uniform, I expect I’ll be able to get a lot more writing done. Look for more in the days to come. Until then, Cheers!
