Finishing day is a very strenuous day

I just got done with sanding two different projects that I’ve been working on over the past week.

The first one is a stand for the dog’s water and food bowls. It turned out relatively good even though I was shooting from the hip and making it up as I went along.

The last thing to do for this one is wipe it down and add a couple coats of waterproofing to it.

The second project is a garden bench for Adrianne for Mother’s Day. I started on it this past week and just finished the last bit of sanding. It turned out so much better than I ever could have expected.

This one will take a bit more work but should be finished by tomorrow. I let Adrianne pick out the stain for this since it’s for her. I’ll have to wipe it off, pre-stain it, stain it, wipe it off again, the a couple coats of protectant since it will be an outdoor piece of furniture. I’ll probably stain it tonight and get the protectant done on it tomorrow.

It feels good to finish projects. I’m not master at this, I make so many mistakes along the way, but I learn from my mistakes and wood is fairly forgiving. There are lots of little things that can be done to his flaws in the piece. Besides, most people will never notice the mistake anyway. I make it a point to not point out the mistakes I know are there.
