Side table

Side table

I finished the California casual patio side table I have been working on today. The last coat of spar is on and drying as I type this.

I’m really happy with how it turned out…

You can see in the gallery above how it went from rough cutting the lumber to mitering the ends of boards, gluing and attaching them together, beveling the stop slats, gluing them on, sanding, and finishing. It’s cool to make something with my own hands. Especially when it’s a thing I consider to be beautiful. It’s not something that everyone can do, I’m proud of my accomplishment. Even if it took me longer than others to do.

I bought the lumber to start a new project this weekend, but waited to begin because I didn’t want to create a lot of saw dust in the shop while the spar was curing. Now that this is done, maybe I can start the new project. I have so many things I’m working on now, I don’t know how I have the time for anything else. We’re leaving for my Sister’s this weekend, so I won’t be able to work on my projects then. I’ll have to catch up after we get back.

Let me know what you think about my table. I’d love to hear your comments on it.
