Well…I finally did it. I made a decision and the decision is to move on with life.
I submitted my paperwork to transfer to fleet reserves. This time next year, I’ll be out of the Navy and doing something else.
My actual retirement date is 9/30/2021, but with terminal leave, house hunting, and job hunting, my last day in uniform will be 7/12/2021.
I’m not having a ceremony. I know that may disappoint some of you, but hold on for a minute. I’m going to do a party instead. It will be similar to a roast. Stand by for more information to follow.
If you want me to send an invitation, let me know what your address is and I’ll get one out to you as we get a bit closer.
One year from today.
😬
😳
😱
It’s been a long time coming and I think I’ve known for a while that the Navy and I were going in different directions. I finally had the realization and got the gumption to drop my papers.
I don’t regret my decision to join the Navy, nor my decision to leave the Navy. I’ve done a lot, I’ve seen more, I never thought I’d go this far, I mean, I got to go to TOPGUN and become a “Patch Wearer”! I became the Master Chief. I never thought this is how my life would turn out. I’ve traveled the world several times over, seen countries you’ve probably never heard of and best of all, I stood up for what I believed in, I fought for what was right, and I didn’t back down.
I’m sure there are people who will be glad to see me go, but no one as glad as me.
There will be more thoughts to follow as I finish up the journey I started on 22 years ago. I just wanted to get the word out there. See you around.
