Here are some additional photos from making strawberry jam yesterday. Special thanks to my guest photographer, Mrs. Schmidt, for stepping in while my hands were otherwise occupied.

Filling hot jars with hot jam, then getting the bubbles out, checking the headspace, wiping the rim clean, putting a lid on the jar and a band to hold it in place.

The boiling water forces bad stuff from the jars and kills anything that might be left in there. 
Once the jars are done boiling, we put them on a wire rack to cool. As they cool, the lids seal with a distinctive “tink” sound.
