I went up to Lowe’s today to pick up a set of hex keys (Allen wrenches) [whatever] so I could get the caliper off the brake on the boat trailer.
The English ones I have are too small and the metic ones I have are too large.
The app said they have some in stock and exactly where to find them. Aisle 62, Bay 4.
I got there, and they’re [dum dum duuuum] sold out.
I figure, no biggie, I’ll see if the other sets have the sizes that I need (somewhere between an English 1/4” and a metric 8mm. Public math…either a 7mm or a 5/16”).
None of the other sets have the sizes that I need.
I truly using the app again to see if they have them somewhere else. And bingo, try aisle 61, bay 1. I go over one aisle and all they have there are tool chests. Also, no bay 1. At all.
The Lowe’s app is bs! It’s only as good as the people who made it.
I left and went to Auto Zone thinking they might have them. Nope. They sell one set with both a 7mm and a 5/16” in it, but they’re sockets and don’t have a long reach on them. Plus, they were twice the price of the set at Lowe’s. Auto Zone two sets, one English and one metric, both are the price of the double set I found on the Lowe’s app.
I quit. I just ordered the one from Lowe’s and will go pick it up when they say it’s ready. Nothing is ever easy.
Side note: Lowe’s was mad. People were everywhere. I’m predicting a red lash of the COVID-19 numbers now. Give it two weeks and we’ll see lock-downs reinstituted.
