Time is relative

I don’t care for New Year resolutions. The calendar year is so arbitrary and screwy. I mean, leap year is every four years, but that year has to be divisible by four, 100, and 400. What?! 🤷🏼‍♂️ Did you know that they (being those who are them, or if you prefer, the powers that be) add leap seconds to the atomic clock so that it lines up with the observed solar time? If you have to add seconds every now and then, maybe our method for keeping time isn’t very accurate? These are probably the same jerks that decided Pluto wasn’t a planet anymore.

I’d prefer to recognize events that are actually significant like the solstice (longest day or night), equinox (day and night is equal) or perihelion (the day Earth is closest to the sun) rather than arbitrary ones that someone once upon a time, a long time ago, decided for some reason.

Because I said so!

This is a real thing by the way. People in power make things up because they said so with no other reasoning behind it. I learned that the Pope’s mom decided where Mary lived in Jerusalem, where Jesus performed the fishes and loaves miracle, and where he delivered the beatitudes speech by walking around and saying, “this happened there, that happened here.”

Resolutions, bah humbug!

Resolutions are the same for me. Just because it’s a new year doesn’t mean things are going to change and start over all new. I seriously don’t see what the fuss is all about. This is one of the actual years we stayed up to watch the ball drop in Times Square and we were a bit disappointed. At any rate, I set goals for myself as I go along and when I see things I want to learn or change about myself, not just because of a new year rolling around.
