Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas!

What a great day. Our kids are older now, so we weren’t up at 2 in the morning putting things under the tree, and we weren’t up at the butt crack of dawn to unwrap everything.

In our house, we get up, have breakfast and unwrap gifts one at a time to see what everyone got as well as prolong the holiday fun a bit. The anticipation is better than the event itself IMHO.

Brining the turkey

Anyway, we unwrapped a few gifts, had some breakfast, got the turkey prepped and in the smoker, and went back to unwrapping gifts. We finally finished up around 1130 and had the rest of the day to play with our new toys and wait for the turkey to be done; it was great.

A turkey in the smoker is worth two in the straw

Sure, sometimes we look back at when the kids were little and all the excitement they’d have before the fat man made his rounds, and they’re still fun to look back on, but this is nice too.

The turkey was done earlier than expected, so we got all the sides prepped, well, when I say we, I mean the wife. After dinner, the kids cleaned up a bit and we went for a soak in the hot tub.

We even had time to put a few of the things we got for Christmas together and in place. Usually with people visiting, we like to leave gifts out for a bit, but since no one is coming, we cleaned up and got the house into a reasonably normal condition.

That’s about it really, now we’re sitting here enjoying each other’s company and watching Doctor Who Christmas specials. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas filled with love, laughter, friends, and family.
